The Bruce Power Saver eliminates human error, automates data input, verifies your bills, removes the effects of weather and production variables from your data and allows you to accurately analyze your energy efficiency efforts. 3. Original Title: Apples to Apples

My Title: When You Love Both Kids, But One is Just Better: How to Accurately Compare Energy Consumption Across Your Various Facilities

003

You know you shouldn’t think it. It’s certainly not ok to say it, but on any given day, you may like one child better than the other. Maybe they were quieter during the game, or they didn’t fidget at the movies. That’s what happens when you raise a couple of kids with very different personalities and ages. But how can you really compare them when they’re so different? It’s the same with your facilities. Say you have two facilities, of two different sizes, and in two different climate zones. How do you know which one is really performing better and why? Watch this 2-minute video to see how The Bruce Power Saver collects your data, accounts for variables and gives you a base from which to compare energy consumption in a business metric that makes sense to you. For example, if you were a dairy producer, you could compare the cost of energy per pound of dairy product produced. Sound refreshing? Watch this short video to find out how we can help you pinpoint waste, identify outliers, troubleshoot problems and set better goals for saving energy, by comparing Apples to Apples.

4. Original Title: Bill Verification: Overpayments Add Up

My Title: There’s a Hole in My Bucket Dear Liza, Dear Liza: Billing Mistakes Are Common and Costly – Bruce Power Direct Can Find the Leaks and Get Your Money Back

004

When it comes to your energy bills, mistakes happen, and sometimes you pay for more than you use. This can add up to significant overpayments. In fact, we estimate that for a company that consumes roughly 10 million kWh per year, billing errors can cost up to $50,000 annually. The good news is that we can get your money back – but we have to find the mistakes first. Our Bill Verification Program can help, and there are no upfront costs. Our software analyzes every electricity bill you’ve paid over the past two years, and if you’ve overpaid, we’ll file a claim on your behalf and share the savings. We’ll also prepare a complete report of your costs and consumption, give you valuable insights into your energy usage and identify opportunities to save. Take 1 ½ minutes and watch this video to learn more. If you haven’t been overcharged that’s great, but if you have, it’s time to get your money back. Watch: Bill Verification.

5. Original Title: Changing Energy Costs and What It Means for Your Bottom line

My Title: It’s Not You, It’s Them: The Shift from Variable Pricing to Fixed Costs and How That Affects Your Bottom Line

005

Yes, energy costs are rising. They’ve risen by 40% over the last 5 years in Ontario, and the Ministry of Energy is projecting a further 8% increase per year over the next 5 years. So, it’s not just you, it’s them. But the way in which those costs are broken out is also changing, shifting from variable pricing to fixed costs, which include building and maintaining infrastructure. What has caused the shift? Ontario phased out coal generation and we had to replace it with something, including renewable resources, which come with 100% fixed costs. In a nutshell, aging infrastructure that requires investment, a transition to a lower carbon economy and the associated investments in wind and solar are increasing the fixed component of your costs. Energy use has also fallen in the last decade, so each kWh used now has to carry more of those fixed costs. What does this mean to your bottom line? Senior Electricity Advisor Kate Bagshaw explains it all here. It’s 4 minutes of your time worth spending. Watch it: Changing Energy Costs and What It Means for Your Bottom line.
